	The National Association of Bariatric Nurses was formed in 2004 out of a recognized need for the nursing profession to dedicate resources, knowledge, and research towards improving the life and nursing care of people suffering from obesity. 	The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is an organization dedicated to giving a voice to those affected by obesity. The OAC was formed to build a nationwide coalition of patients to become active advocates and spread the important message of the need for obesity education.
